Starcraft II to go 3D

The success of Starcraft II at retail was never in doubt, and the game has surprised no one in smashing sales records, moving more than 3 million copies in the first month of release. I, however, have yet to be bitten by the Starcraft II bug: I've installed it, played the first couple missions, and there it sits....

One of the problems for me may be that one of the first things I tried to do was test it with NVIDIA's 3D Vision, which naturally did not work well at all since the game was not optimized for 3D, which was a bummer to me since the first game works with 3D Vision and this is, afterall, a sequel that's come out during a period in which the demand for 3D applications, games, and movies is skyrocketing.

I've always planned to go back to the game, and now I know around when that will be: Mid-September. Blizzard has announced that support for 3D Vision will be part of its planned version 1.1 patch update, which is coming this month. Blizzard has not specified if this support will included NVIDIA's 3D Vision Surround multi-display 3D system, but you can be sure we'll try it out and report on it here. So stay tuned!
